Mandatory Helmet Rule effective April 1, 2012

Mandatory Helmet Rule - No joke !!!

CHSA has followed the USEF / USHJA lead and effective April 1, 2012, ALL persons mounted on a horse on competition grounds at any CHSA rated show with Hunter, Hunter Seat Equitation, CHSA Medal, and/or Jumper classes are required to wear properly fastened ASTM approved protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. The helmet must be properly fitted with harness secured.

 

2013/14 CHSA Finals Venue RFP

The Connecticut Horse Shows Association, (“CHSA”), is seeking venue proposals for the CHSA Finals annual horse show. CHSA will release the annual horse show venue request for proposal (RFP) on a bi-annual basis; this RFP is for the 2013 and 2014 CHSA Finals Horse Show.

Any CHSA Member may submit a bid to host the CHSA Finals. Applicants should be aware that running a successful horse show is a great deal of effort and involves considerable organization, forethought and support/help. The CHSA Finals has grown over the past five years to be one of the premier Connecticut state horse shows and serves as the State Finals for Riders jumping 2’6” and under. The show facility must have patience and understanding with novice exhibitors, parents and spectators and be able to take responsibility for insuring that the rules are being followed, etc.

The request for proposal for the 2013/2014 CHSA Finals Horse Show is hereby let on March 15, 2012 and interested parties need to notify CHSA of their intent to submit a proposal by March 30, 2012.

Interested parties need to notify CHSA of their intent to submit a proposal by submitting a letter of interest or intent to bid to the:

2011 Celebration of Champions - Recap and Photos

The 2011 CHSA Celebration of Champions Gala Event was held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT and attended by over 500 CHSA Members, Friends and Family.  This was the 79th CHSA Celebration of Champions Gala Event!

The Awards Banquet started with the Parade of Champions (Lead Rein and Walk-Trot Winners!) led by Ms. Harpur Schwartz and Paige Vinson.

Forty Two Year End Awards were presented along with a Raffle that raised money for the CHSA Scholarship Fund. View photos from the 2011 CHSA Awards Banquet.

The Hal A. Vita Sr. Humanitarian Award. Donated in His Memory by His Family. 2011 Recipient: Harpur Schwartz Presented by Sally, Geoff and Logan Allison of the Shallowbrook Equestrian Center.

CHSA Good Sportsmanship Award. 2011 Winner: Kylie Abrego. Nomination submitted by: Nora Andrews and Erin Featherstone

The Battle of the Barn Baskets was won again this year by Sarah Weaver, Chestnut Hill Show Stables. A close second was Mark Rarick and Oak Meadow Farm.

CHSA Celebration of Champions Gala Event - Last Minute Tips

CHSA Celebration of Champions! Saturday, March 3, 2012 The CHSA Banquet is this Saturday and we have over 500 CHSA members, family, guests and award winners coming!  Below are some last minute tips about attending the CHSA Banquet. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday night at 6:00pm at the Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Blvd Hartford, Connecticut 06103-2807, Phone: 1-860-249-6000. Some CHSA Awards Banquet Tips: Cash - You will need to bring cash for raffle tickets (we'll take checks too), drinks & parking! Remember this is a celebration so dress to impress!  This is a dress-up affaire! Bring your camera..there will be no "official photographer" Walk Trot and Lead Liners receive a special gift but you need to be in banquet hall by 6:30pm!!! Unable to attend the CHSA Celebration of Champions?

For CHSA Members unable to attend the CHSA Celebration of Champions?

If you are the recipient of a CHSA Year-End Award and are unable to attend the banquet there are two ways to receive your ribbon:

1. Contact a friend who is attending and ask them to pick up your award, or

2. Your ribbon (only) can be mailed to you. Just send a check for $5.00 made out to CHSA to me: Cynthia Jensen, 195 Wildwood Drive, Cheshire, CT 06410

 

Only ribbons will be mailed.  For awards contact Cynthia at 203-272-0142 to make arrangements.

 

Any ribbons not spoken for will be recycled after April 15.

Unable to attend the CHSA Celebration of Champions?

 For folks who are getting an award and are unable to attend the Gala Event:

See if your award can be picked up by a friend who is attending, or another person in your barn. 

We will be glad to mail your ribbon and award to you.
